Hi Everyone,

I wanted to let you know that my Z is back on the road I found a great mechanic that has a mobile set up. So anyone in San Diego that is looking for a mechanic let me know and I'll send you the info.
Anyway, I called at least 15 places before I found him. He came to the house that morning. After checking the codes and making a few adjustments, he changed the computer module. Well, that took care of smoke from the carb problem. :hail: He then said that the Cat. converter wasn't working right and made a few suggestions on what to do. For code check and 1 hour labor time and the module it was $200. I think it was a great deal since I just paid $380 to get it smogged and they really didn't do anything.
So I removed the cat converter, the inside stuff was all in chunks and black. So I removed all the chunks, which left us with a clear cat. so that she will pass a visual inspection. Put it back on the car and she is now running great and sounds like a chevy!!

 

So it has a noisy valvetrain and more rattles than a maternity ward?

 

Well it we put my '84 next to my daughter's '71 they sound pretty close
