Its probably the T for the hvac and, I *think* egr lines. Been awhile since ive looked back there but you shoudl check to see whats not hooked up if theres nothing there.

Didnt see that its an L shaped fitting when I first read the post. It could be for the egr. I remember there being some rubber elbows for the vacuum solenoid. Might also be for the heater valve. There is a line that comes off of the head that supplies vacuum to the heater valve. Might want to follow everything (EGR, HVAC) and make sure its all hooked up. If the egr is hooked up and the HVAC works then just cap it off I suppose.

i did cap it off and i cant find anything. if i unscrewed it, it would be a direct hole into th eintake manifold.
if i had a camera i would take pics.

Oh, doh! I thought you where talking about a small rubber fitting or something. That should be hooked up. That supplies vacuum to your power brake booster. How did it run with nothing hooked up to it? I imagine someone must have put something inside that jambed it up or it filled with carbon deposits (somewhat hard to beleive, though). If it was jsut open it would cause the cylinder that that runner feeds to pretty much go dead and the others around it to be lean.

i wanna know what it is though.
