how much?

I was thinking of an engine swap. And was wondering what you think my 84 305 HO motor would go for. If I buy a new one, I might as well try and sell my old one.

I cant see you getting to much, maybe mid to high 100's or so (like 5-750ish). The problem with selling a 305 is that the only good it would do someone is if they were looking to do a direct swap. But in many cases, people who do want to do engine swaps dont bother with the mild mannered 305; instead, they go and swap the 350, which has a better cost-to-performance ratio than the 305.

Total cost would depend on several things. Probably the biggest is overall milage. Second would be condition of the parts.

Toss it up in the classifieds and see what you cant get. You migh try offering it up for parts as well.

If you sold it for $500 FOB your driveway, that would be the day a thief and a fool met.

(I'll give you $5 for it if you get it to my driveway.)

Same here; I won't even let anybody give me one, they're so worthless. I hate hauling stuff like that to the scrap yard any more than I have to; the couple of coins I get out of it isn't worth it.

If it runs REAL GOOD, and you can prove it to a prospective buyer (like it's still in the car and can start up and run), you might MAYBE get $150 for it. Basically that's what somebody else will sell one for, so that's all you're going to be able to get, too.
