Now I am thinking I should have got a lockup style. Although my tranny came from gm as a non-lockup. Didn't it? 87' IROC

Mine did. Yours should have been if it's an OD trans. But if your computer is disconected, it will not work unless you ground out pin F i think.

I believe all the 700r4s from the factory came w/ a lockup feature. I know my 85, 86, and 87 have all had it stock. And I'm not sure if it is not really a function of the tranny so much as what torque converter you have, as you can buy lockup or non-lockup TCs for the 700r4. Maybe I'm wrong there, I'm not up on trannys that well... After I ditched the computer and injection on my 87 Z I just simply run a little TCI vacuum switch setup that locks up the TC in OD.

All TH700R4 transmissions had a lockup TC from the factory.

Whether it worked when you got the vehicle with that tranny is another question entirely. Mine didn't (still doesn't - I'm working on it...).
