I have no complaints with mine. Running that plus a blaster 2 coil and 6AL box, noticed a power gain after the swap to MSD stuff. The stock ignition didn't seem to like going above 6000 much.

My stock dist. was rusted and falling apart, so I'm just trying to justify the price difference. I think I'm gonna bite the bullet and buy the MSD, thanks for the reply.

No complaints with mine either. I'm also running a 6AL box and Blaster 2 coil.

Is it going to give you a big HP gain? Probably not if your current ignition is functioning properly. However, it is going to make your ignition easier to tune, be more reliable, and give you more stuff to play with.

Not really expecting any power gains, my stocker was just shot and I did not want to bother with it in a brand new motor!!

With all of the features of MSD why not. Mine is so pretty, and light, and hard. The way I drive, this will last a long time.

No problems with mine and I have a blaster stock replacement coil and am firing it off an Accel 300+ box.

MSD is generally really good stuff.

As noted, if your current HEI is in good condition little to no difference will be seen at the track or felt seat of the pants. But since yours is shot, going MSD is the way to go. If you can swing it opt for the new digital-6 box. More options than the norm 6AL, but a little more $$$ too naturally. One way or another if you start buying add ons you going to pay for this stuff, but with the digital 6 box it already has a few items standard so it evens out in the wash so to speak.

For anybody running a MSD with the HEI cap that may be a year or 2 years old, definately pull your cap if you have'nt in awhile, more than likely you'll find corroded contacts in the cap, crud on the rotor and rust all over the inner workings of this beast. MSD has since upgraded to a vented cap to allow condenstaion to escape and not eat the guts out of these things.

I know alot of guys are running the old points style cap, but your new one will come with the HEI cap so do yourself a favor and order the blaster 3 coil when your doing this to keep all your wires the same as far as the ends go, this way you dont have a redheaded step child for a coil wire.
