Need some info.
Hey guy's what's happening I'm a newbie and this is my first post. Ok, I have a 92rs with the 305 motor my question is what type of 305 is it ( in terms of a code ). Also it's not a TPI but I believe it does have a carb under the air cleaner so do I have a TBI or what do I have
? I'm trying to learn as much as I can about this car cause I want to start upgrading the motor so I can give it some *****. The motor has 204k so it's seen better days.

what's the vin, we can tell by that, it's locateed on the drivers side dash, in a little clear area in the black strip at the bottem of the windshield(note DO NOT post the last 4 or 5 numbers, that's unique to your individual car and people can get a titel in there name with it, just post the begining of it)

Your car is almost certainly TBI. Looks alot like a carb, but it isn't.
Here's a thread you can read to learn a little about what to do to uncork what you've got; it applies equally to a replacement engine, since alot of the things about the CAR AS A WHOLE will cripple some other engine as surely as they cripple the one that's in there now. Scroll down about halfway to my first post in that thread.
The way to mod a car is NOT to un-bolt and re-bolt big shiny things that sit up on top of the motor where they're easy to get to and everybody can see them. All that will do to make the car faster, is to lighten it, by removing weight from the driver's wallet. It is NOT to start hacking off all the emissions devices. It IS, to identify whatever the most serious bottleneck is at the moment, and fix it; which will reveal another bottlenck, which you then fix; which will reveal another, and so on. You'll hear alot of stupiditiy at the McDonalds parking lot or wherever, and unfortunately we have a certain amount of that noise here too, but being on the Internet doesn't make it any more effective. For the most part you'll be able to tell the difference pretty easily between people who know what they're doing and people who are just running off at the mouth.

Just wanna say thnx for the info guys . I've already got an aftermarket air filter, headers, cat, and catback exhaust, so I guess it's time to start looking for some more parts now that I know what I've got under the hood
