Easy thermostat question (I hope)
my car (91 5.0 TBI firebird) runs pretty cool at all times, except when it's sitting.. so I thought maybe my thermostat was sticking open.. since it's only a few bucks, I just went and got a new one anyway.. it was old too.. I put the new one in, then I brought the old one in and messed with it.. I put it in a pot of boiling water and it opened fine.. but it closed really slowly.. actually, it didn't completely close.. is that normal? or is it supposed to close water-tight?

Ahh ****, thats what happens when you browse two boards at once! lol
Anyway, about the thermostat, If your car is running hot at Idle, I doubt it was due to the thermo sticking open , closed sure, but not open hehe )

nono.. it was running cold. hehe but I was really asking about the way it operates.. is it supposed to close really slowly? and is it supposed to close with some space or is it supposed to be water-tight?
