BURNING OIL!!
BURNING OIL!!
I have an 1982 z28 350 and one day it semmed to start smoking a mixture of sometimes white and sometimes blue. I seems to burn it when the car gets like 210 and the oil pressure goes down. Then it seems to start smoking a whole bunch.. COuld it be the oil weight. Hope it isn't the rings because why would it all of a sudden start smoking if it wasn't before it is a fairly new engine
no, the oil weight(as far as i know) wont cause it to burn oil... white smoke( this same thing is posted in another post by murphsIROC) is from leaking coolant that is getting into the combustion chamber, either from a bad head gasket, or bad intake manifold gasket. your car is heating up.. is it low on coolant? better check that out

- 83 Z28--ttops, 200k miles--very ragged out. sold, thank goodness
- 74 Z28--slightly modded 383, TH400 tranny, not too quick but fun to drive
Looks like oil and coolant are leaking into your combustion chamber. What is new about the engine? Might not be the rings, could be valves. Thicker oil, or an oil additive that thickens it, might help with less blue smoke.
Oil pressure dropping at a higher temp . . that could show a hell of an oil leak, especially if it smokes more. Did you do any head work?
