queston on oxygen sensors
Ok, I have an 86 sport coupe camaro, with the stock setup....being a 305 with a quadrajet and all that 'good ol' computer sh*t everywhere around it.
Now I had recently purchased a ram air 2 hood and I want to be able to take advantage of the air coming in the front, however with that goofy air cleaner that needs hookups in a million places to the engine I cannot force the air into it
Ive thought of two things to solve this,
One being that I scrap the lid and put a bigger air cleaner in (leaving the lid off), however I thought that this might not be the best choice for my carb (unless I put a k&n xtreme lid on top of the filter or something
Second, if it is possible to live without that air cleaner setup, I could scrap that, order my headers w/o the oxygen sensor stuff (all the extra hose connections) and just get a big drop on filter.....would this work or would my engine suffer from all the 'loose ends'
I seem to be in quite the prediciment and I really want to know what you all think I should do....or maybe you could suggest something else. Thanks in advance...hope I didnt confuse anyone

Try using a dual snorkel air cleaner if you don't already have one. You can probably ram air it to the fender wells if no where else. Also if the K&N Extreme lid will work, run that as well.
Since your car is computer operated, you might want to leave the air injection in place. Depends on where you live as to whether you can legally remove them or not. It should also have an effect on the O2 sensor which sends readings to the computer which sends signals to the carb... yada, yada..... The smog pump really doesn't use much horsepower......

well I live in Minnesota so I dont have to worry about emissions etc, but if I were to put a taller filter with an xtreme lid in the base of my cleaner, Im not sure it will fit. I heard from a guy at an auto show who said that our air cleaners are slightly smaller than 14" and the would not fit in there properly
