TBI fuel pump good for how much hp?
Read my sig and you can see what I'm trying to power. I know that I had the TPS sensor wired backwards so at idle it was thinking WOT and was just dumping fuel in with a huge spray but some solid drips too. The holley has 65 injectors and the engine is 330hp and I'm wondering if the fuel pump is going to be good enough to supply this engine at 5400rpm (max hp). If not can somebody tell me what the effects might be if I turn fuel pressure down or up etc.

- Holley 670 TB unit w/ 1/2" spacer/adapter
- Edelbrock RPM vortec intake
- 350ho 330hp vortec crate motor
- 8" harm. balancer
- Stewart stage 2 water pump w/160 thermo
- SLP tri-y headers to full 3"
- Rebuilt trans w/ SLP shift kit
- Centerline 16x8's all around
- 36/24 mm sway bars
- Full poly bushings, even motor mounts
- SLP LCA and panhard
- Alston SFCs
- Edelbrock 3 point STB
- Global west steering brace aka wonderbar
- Eibach pro kit springs
- Bilstien high perf. struts and shocks
- All this and I still have AC
Generally N/A engines will have a BSFC of .5. You can calculate fuel usage using this number.
330HP * .5BSFC = 165Lbs/hr of fuel or 27.5gal/hr
The stock TBI pump is rated at 29gal/hr @ 0psi. Once you raise the pressure, add the fuel lines and filter, pump output will be less.
I'd bet you don't have enough pump. Watching for FP drop at WOT will tell you for sure.

Brent is right, JP. You're gonna have to crank up you fuel pressure by this multiplier:
[(330/4)/65]**2(x)Fuel Pressure now = 330hp FP min. I used this formula and am making mor than 300hp with 55pph injectors...
So, if you are at 11psi stock (I believe that's where the injectors were "flowed" at?), you need 17.7psi to make 330hp...
no big deal. Someone must make a FP for your app for cheap. Airtex, Walbro, etc, but DEFINATELY find a way to check WOT operation at higher rpms. You don't want to run that BRAND new motor lean!
Email me, if you want
