Its not too hard to do if you buy the right parts, but it can be time consuming running the wires and attaching the new fuel lines. If you haven't done the swap before you might want to look into getting an electric fuel pump wiring kit from Painless. It comes with the relay, circuit breaker, wires and diagram which makes the job a lot easier.
As far as the mechanical part goes buy a block off plate to cover the hole where your mechanical pump was. Also find a good place to mount the new pump, I mounted mine back by the tank. And depending on what kine of pump you get you might need a regulator and return line. I recommend the Carter pumps, they are quiet and don't require a regulator or return line on certain models. Just to be on the safe side I added a regulator and pressure gauge even though its not required.
Good luck!
