what do ya think?
Im looking at a new crate engine for my 84 Z28 HO. Im thinking of GM ZZ4 HO 350 Crate Engine. I would all so like to drop in a new T56 tranny. What do you guys think. Would this be a good engine to go with.

It'd be fine. At one time, that motor was offered as part of a kit to replace 305s.
You can use your stock carb & dist, leave its intake and cam as they are; you'll enjoy it. Headers will make a BIG difference.
I wouldn't screw around with a new T-56, unless you have so much money you just have to get rid of some because it's so heavy.

T-56 is an excellent idea; a new one is a bit more $$$$ than what's probably really necessary.
A 93-97 F body one is the way to go. Out of those, 94-97 are preferred.

Headers, check the stick at the top of the exhaust forum. long tubes are nice, however, certain modifications are needed to make them work. Shorties are the easier of the 2 to install and are probably the better choice if you have to contend with emissions (shorties are usually the ones that can get purchased with AIR tubes). I personally have SLP shorties and they are fine. I have a set of Hedman long tubes waiting to go in this winter when i drop my new engine in.

I no this is not some thing that can really be anser. But if I have that engine with a T56 and 3.73 gears. With 275/40/17 rear tires. What do you think the 1/4 mile time would be.

so many factors to consider, but assuming decent traction good tune and all should run somewhere in the 13's
