Centerbolt valve covers

Yo guys, I've been told that you can re-use the original gaskets under the centerbolt covers. I've never had the covers off my motor, and it doesn't leak a drop of oil. I want to keep it leak-free, but I'd like to take a look in there to see how theings are wearing, see how much varnish is built up, etc...

So what's the deal here? Thanks.

I think it will just depend on how the gasket looks when you get it off. But if your car is an '88 and you have never had it off, I would not count on salvaging the gasket once the cover is off.

Mine were in good enough shape to re use.
When I removed them they peeled off easily and were nice and soft still, so I just put them back. If it leaks I haven't noticed yet.
