Hello everyone!!!

Hello everyone!!
I'm new to the board, I have an 82 trans-am with a 305 4bbl q-jet and a 200c transmission (soon to be replaced for a 700r4).

I have a question. My car makes this loud "thud" as if a metal is sliding and hitting something under the car. It does this everytime I put the car on reverse and step on the gas or when going down the street I press on the breaks slightly hard. I checked the driveshaft but it doesn't seem to be that (I could be wrong though). It feels as if something moves when I hear this thud. I'm not sure what it could be.

Any suggestions from you guys would be appreciated.

Thanks

Chris

I guarantee its your trans mount. Same thing as on my last car...same thing as on this car. It was about $70 to have it fixed at a shop (blah my dad had them do it even though I wanted to do it myself w/ a Energy Suspension version)..

Same thing happened to me a long while ago. It was my torque arm bushing. If you dont know what the torque arm is its the long metal brace that goes from the rear end to the tranny. Check to make sure its on there good and tight. From the symptoms though it could be Ujoints, torque arm, or trans mount. All are easy to replace just go pick up a chiltons manual if your woried about it. Good Luck.
