T-Top Latch Problems PLEASE HELP!

I have an 89 firebird with t-tops, and one day i toop the top off to clean it and the plastic outer rod shot off and the spring came out I toop the plastic cover off and saw that where the c-clip attaches to the plastic rod broke in two. I have tried everything to glue it back together but nothing will hold it. Does anyone know where i can get a new one of these? All of the 3rd gens in the junk yards around here are picked over and there are no tops left on any of them. I really need a new one because I can lift the top about an inch up without it and it leaks bad cause it doesn't latch. PLEASE HELP! thanks alot!

GM might have the replacement clip. Or sometimes parts warehouses do.

Or you might try to make one yourself.

You could try a glass repair center or check with the junkyard. A lot of them remove the T-Tops and place them in a seperate location for resale later.

My post would still apply as most glass repair centers usually just toss old T-tops that they replace on the junk pile out back.

I don't know of any glass repair centers around here. I am open to other options of simply gettin this plastic rod though.

well if you are in dire need, the junkyard I go to has atleast 10 t-top cars, and about 8 of them have all there tops. I found a t-top bag and t-top over head consol thingy today, it even had the flashlight, but the lens was shattered.

I am gonna call around the yards today and see if any of the take the tops off and store them somewhere else, because I know they do that with windshields and stuff. But if not how much do you think I could get just that part for from one of you?

If you give us a picture it would help, I've never disassembled a t-top, but if the part you need is small, I can get it and pocket it, i wouldn't normally do that, but the guy they have making up prices now sucks. He wanted $20 for some ****ty valve covers, I can get chrome ones from autozone for $30.

the first picture is the black rod I need, second is the t-tops on the car, and the last two show where the rod is in the t-top so you understand what it is.
