If you check the thread, please vote. Mileage would be nice but is not necessary.

or hit the sticky at the top of the page.

Dunno how many are on the body, but the engine has 389,xxx km's (~240,000 miles) on it.
I repaired the tripmeter in my old Z28 several years ago, in the same fashion as you have recently posted, except there was only one broken tab on mine.

Donor car had 123,400 on it when I pulled the engine (and transmission, and all wiring and sensors, and dash, and...). The trip sort of worked, I took the speedo out and tried to superglue the j-hooks back in place. Sort of worked for a couple of weeks, then gave up.

With the new suggested fix, I'm considering taking it out this weekend and trying again. I really like the function on the vehicles I have in which it actually works.

Oh, the original '82 speedo had 133k on it. I don't know if the trip worked, I never drove the car when it had the V6 in it.

Mine still works fine, 134,XXX miles in an '82. The reset button shaft did break though, just need to make a new one to slip over the broken part.

Now that I think about it, it's not the original trip odometer in my car. The original was still working around 55,000 miles when i replaced the speedometer for one with about 140,000 miles, which is the one still working now.
