New Radiator Question

I bought a new radiator for my '83 from Autozone (GDI manufactured it). There's an extra fitting, i think it's below the upper hose inlet (been a while since i looked at it though). Do later model cars use this for a heater return or something? Mine didn't have it originally. Also, it came with a rubber cap hose-clamped onto it. Suppose this will be sufficient to cap it off for use in the car?
thanks for any help

'83 Z28 5 speed (regrettably with T-tops)

still haven't used the radiator yet, as the engine's being changed now. Also, I changed my username to the current one from amagin86

thanks
