Car: 1986 IROC , 1987 IROC (Kid's car)

Engine: 305 4bbl, 305 TPI

Transmission: T-5, 700R4

fuel pressure question

87 IROC 305 TPI. New fuel pump making moaning noise. Checked fuel pressure and when the pump primes it gets to 42lbs then instantly drops to 0. The engine does start and the pressure peaks at about 38lbs at idle, the needle bounces between 36 and 38. Any ideas? Is it normal for the pressure to drop to "0" after priming?

Nevermind...pinched return line and pressure holds, off to buy a new regulator.
