You should really adjust the TV cable, don't drive it untill you do, it will trash your tranny in acouple miles.

Ok this might mean nothing since I dont know much about how the auto trans in an f-body is like (even though I have one now) I mostly had standard trannys.... But anyways if for some reason your tranny relies on vaccum to shift that could be your problem. My friend had a vaccum shift tranny in a mustang, he pulled the motor and rebuit it with a new cam and intake along with other things. Well his motor didnt pull enough vaccum to shift the tranny.... it worked fine in the first 2 gears but third had a problem especially if he floored it and higher RPMs I dont know how your tranny shifts ... if is a vaccum solienoid or not and I dont know how big a cam you put in but I do know that some real high perfomance race cams you wont have a lot of vaccum. The other guy is probally right it may just be the t.v. cable needs adjusting, but I thought I'd just add this just incase. By the way I think he fixed this by adding an accumulator (vaccum storage) to build up enough vaccum... got it through summit and eventually got a different tranny

The transmissions in 3rd gens did not use a vacuum signal, they use the TV cable to measure throttle.

Yes I agree with Mr Leigh..
If you pulled your motor out to do this and accidently left the cable attached and strethed it out or just have it real bad out of adjustment you can be faced with the problems that you are having make sure the cable is still fully attached to the trans and the one bolt is still holding it in place there then check the adjustment at the intake.
