do i need the fuel pump relay to operate the origional electric fuel pump in my tank. does it matter that i changed the engine to a carbed 350? if i were to get an aftermarket electric fuel pump would i need the relay? or would it just pay to get a mechanical pump? thanx

84,

If you use the original in-tank pump, you'll probably need a fuel pressure regulator to avoid flooding the carb. You can use the original relay to operate the pump. Wiring the pump directly to the ignition is not recommended, since the pump can use up to 15A current peaks, which might be a little too much for the ignition switch to handle.
