Installing sensors in AFR heads
Got a quick question. I'm in the midst of getting the engine ready to throw back into the car. I'm about to install the 2 temp. sensors back in the heads. On the drivers side one of them goes more towards the front of the engine, while on the pass. side it's to the rear. On sensor has a round connector on the top and the other has a male spade type connector. I can't remember which goes where.
Also I can't find in the service manual anywhere if I should put any type of thread sealant or anti seize on the threads of these sensors.
Thanks,
- Joel

Round = fan switch = right head
Spade = temp gauge sender = left head
Teflon tape, check after you install them to make sure there's good electrical contact between the sensor body and the casting

Great! Exactly what I need!
Do you mean the left handed head as the pass side?
Thanks!

Hey,
Speaking of this sensor in the passenger side head. I broke mine and now must replace it. I've bought two from o'reillys, one from autozone, and one from the local Chevy dealership. NONE of them thread in properly.
NEED HELP. Can't let this 10 dollar part slow me down.
Thanks.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and assume that the problem you're having is that the sensor (it's the fan switch, to be specific) has 3/8" pipe threads, and the head has ½" pipe threads.
You need a bushing. Go to the hardware store and get one of these right here.
