Ok, tommorows my 17th birthday and today i just finished a big project on my 84 L69. The heads, Edelbrock TES Headers, Edelbrock Waterpump, it was a big pain in the a$$ but i just got the car started today after its been sitting for 4 months, but i have a few problems and until they are fixed i cant drive the car, so pleasssseeee Help.

1) My fan will not go on by itself. It is an electric fan. I cant figure out where a few wires go. I have this one green wire that is stripped, i guess the connector fell off some time during the project. But I noticed what this wire did because when I accidentally touched it to my carburator the fan went on, I guess because it was grounded or something. Anyway, where does this green wire connect to? Could it be the sensor on the passanger side head? I have no idea.

2) What does the sensor going into the thermostat housing do? and is the sensor going into the thermostat housing the same sensor that goes into the passenger side head? And if you dont know which sensor in the thermostat housing I am talking about it is the one closest to the passanger side.

Yes, the wire that makes the fan come on should go to the fan switch; and yes, that's the one in the pass side head, between #6 & #8 spark plugs.

There are 2 things in the thermostat housing; one is the thermal vacuum switch for the EFE (heat riser), the other is the coolant temp sensor that goes to the ECM. I think the ECM's CTS is the one to the pass side.

Here's a couple of pics that show some of what you're asking about.

The CTS has an effect on just about everything the ECM controls. You'll definately want that connected.

Vader has posted the list of system it affects many times. Look up any of his posts about the CTS and you'll find it.
