GM Target Master question

I have been lurking here for a while but this is my first post. I hope you dont mind the fact that i dont own a Thirdgen but a Vette. I find this forum to verry helpfull engine wise and tought you guys could help me.

Here is my problem, i have a GM Target Master longblock that i got for dirt cheap. The problem is that the oil pan is busted as the engine was dropped. Not a problem i told myself, just get a new one after checking that everything was Ok inside. The pickle is that the engine has both dipsticks, LH and RH. The pan has bosses for both dipsticks too. The problem is that i can find a pan that has both dipstick bosses. What can i do ? can i put a regular pan on it, will it seal properly ? Has anyone ever seen this ?

Thanks.

BTW, that engine is not for the vette...

I believe there are parts lists for the different GM crate motors
that list the component parts with part#'s that make up each motor. check Sallee Chevrolet and gm goodwrench internet sites.

There are 10 "service parts lists" for 10different crate motors HERE

You can use a regular oil pan with which ever dipstick location you choose. The oil pan gaskets have provisions to remove the section of the gasket that designates RH or LH dipstick.

Edit: You will need to plug the spare hole. For some reason I cant remember the size plug it is.

Measure the hole by finding the drill bit that just fits; that's the size plug you'll need.

The 2 holes are different sizes (mine were). Decide which side you want the dipstick on, then measure the hole diameter and make a plug out of steel about .003-.005" larger and 3/8-1/2" long, taper the end and drive it in the hole to plug.
