TPS Help

I was tryin to adjust the TPS reading and it just not working for me.. the most volts i can get out of it is .24 until i open throttle to almost half throttle and itll go to .54... what does this mean do i have a bad connection somewhere or is the tps bad? help quickly? hehe thanks guys

Try this link and follow the instructions and do it again. If it is still doing it then you have a bad connection or bad tps sensor.

yeah i check my connection several times the best i could get was the .27... i guess ill buy a new one and try that then.

There isnt much need to adjsut the tps unless its overly high or low. The ecm automatically calibrates by taking the tps value at startup as a baseline and using that as teh reference for closed throttle. Just make sure the tps volts are reasonable with the throttle closed and call it a day. Something like .5 or .6 volts would be fine.

I beleive that the wires youll want to back-probe will be black (sensor ground) and dark blue (tps signal). They may also be marked as 'A' and 'B' on the connector. I cant remember. The having to adjust the tps thing is sort of a myth. It really only needs to be adjusted when, for some reason, the min air has been changed alot or the sensor has been replaced. This is only to ensure that the voltage wont be out of the normal range for closed throttle.

As far as reading the voltage and adjusting the tps, a scantool or scan software is much easier to use. Jsut look at the raw output and set the tps accordingly.
