Removing filter from charcoal canister??

Alright im trying to get the filter out of the can. In the haynes manual it says to disconnect everything, unscrew it, and if you turn it upside down the filter can be pulled out through the back.

Well I turned mine upside down and its got a plastic cap on the bottom and I cant figure out how to get the bastard off.

Anyone have any ideas???

well in the later years the canister is fully sealed up and u have to replace the whole thing.

before i knew this i was also trying to get mine open awhile back and wondered why i couldnt easily see the filter on the bottom.

i ran a search and found out that mine is fully sealed up and i spent wasted minutes trying to open mine up.

Does anyone have any idea what a new one costs or how hard they are to get??

Do you think its even worth it to replace one?

lol...I bought one for $1.69 and then couldn't figure out where to put it, so I just put it in the indentation under the canister and bolted it back down. For $1.69, I wasn't going to return it anyways, so I figured I'd put it somewhere.
