when i first start it up it sounds fine, even when i rev it. but about 30 secs later i get this wierd humming sound, it kinda sounds like an OHC, its weird. could it be the smog pump.. when i rev it when im under the hood it sounds like it is coming from the smog pump. this is on an 82 T/A CFI 350

Usually when something humms, it means that it does'nt know the words.

You could try a stethescope. They're pretty cheap.

I had an alternator that sounded like a supercharger.
