K&N's or Not???

ive read so much that showed k&n's rock and so much that said they dont flow any more than a paper filter when its new. well whats eveyones opnion. should i spend 60 bucks on k&n's or just keep my paper filters changed. this going on my 383 stealthram with the normal tpi intake system and a cold air mod. the more i think about it the more it doesnt seem worth it...

Its a long term investment. Even if it doesn't make more power, in the long run you save money. The filter is reusable for ever so you don't have to pay for a replacement filter every year.

my first one had one on it... and it wasent as performance oriented, i was 15

but i wont mind paying the extra money everytime to buy new paper filters if they flow just as good or better. since you have to recharge the k&n's anyway and that kit costs $$. but i guess its a sin not to have a k&n on here just kiddin guys im probably going to order them anyway when i have to order my new valve springs but i wanted to get opinions!!

keep them coming

i think k&n also claims better filtering? While you do have to pay for the recharge kit i bet in the long run it comes out about equal in price so why not just get the k&n, plus they look cooler. But if you put the car on a dyno and made back to back runs one with a normal filter and one with a k&n i doubt there would be any difference worth noticing

One of the best things about K&N or similar filters is that htey still flow as good as a new paper element when dirty. They don't lose flow as you use them like paper, and the filter better.

K&N is better... they do flow better, and in the long run, they are cheaper than replacing your paper filter all the time. They also filter better than paper ones do.

The only expense after buying the filter is the cleaning/re-oiling kit, AKA "recharger kit". Its about $5-10, and will do the filter a few times, depending on the size of the filter.

K&N gets my vote.

I was out at the track, and wanted to test out the K&N's. I ran down the track with original paper filters, then with no filters. Got the same result with both. Then I put in the K&N's and it dropped a .1 off my 1/8th mile time. Just my experience
