You need to replace the heater core. I have heard a lot of people say it is a pain, that they have to remove the dash, all I had to do was remove a black panel though.

I second Mark. I had the same problem and my heater core had busted.

Remove the hoses from the heater core... if the old ones were hard to remove, then you might have some of the old hose material still on the nipple (or whatever you would call it), and you just can't see it. I had the same problem a couple months ago, thought it was one of the freeze plugs on the back of the block. Thank God I checked the connections on the hoses first and found a chunk stuck to the inside of the hose preventing a tight seal no matter how tight the clamps were. Just a thought......

He said 'nipple' ehehehhe

Just kiddin....

Possibly the core was pretty corroded and if you didn't use a razor to cut the old hose off and resorted to manhandling it off, you may have cracked the 'nipple' where it enters the core.

They are a pia!

My heater core did the same thing. Worked fine, I swapped the V6 to a V8 and the heater core leaked into the car. I later found the the heater core had cracked. Probably from the stress of taking the old hoses off.
