If it's locked up it will shift real hard into second gear even at part throttle. Put it in 3rd gear and you should hear 3 shift's and the lock up (like a 4sp).

Do you have a tach in your camaro? When you shift into 3rd your torque converter is still slipping to the stall speed untill the torque converter locks up electricly. so if you leave it in 3rd you should hear 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and then what sounds like another shift when the conv. locks up. The torque conv. should only lock up in 3rd and 4th gear. It's like having a standard trans when locked up to increase fuel milage at highway speeds by eliminating slippage from the conv. After you shift into 3rd, you should see a slight drop in RPM when it locks up! If you don't have a problem with the conv. your bog is probably being caused by the secondary's on your carb. opening too soon. That will be caused by someone that has tried to convert your secondary's to manual or the spring tension is out of adjusment causing the air flap to open too quickly. Perhaps your tranny's kickdown cable is out of adj. also.
