89 Trans Am Hesitating
I have an 89 Trans Am that I bought recently. I was told that it originally had a 305 TPI, but that motor was replaced with a 350 TPI and was bored .060 over. It also has a high volume oil pump, a jet airfoil, a 180 degree thermostat, and a BBK adjustable fuel pressure regulator. When you floor it, the car pulls very hard up until about 4500 RPM, and then it stops pulling and hesitates and stutters up until it hits redline and then shifts. After it shifts it pulls hard again until it gets back up to around 4500 RPM. I don't know what could be causing this problem other than it is not getting enough fuel. Is it possible that the fuel pump that came with the original 305 is not adequate for a 350 that is bored over??
Any help with this problem would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Chris

if its a stock tpi unit anything over 4500 is pretty much out of its powerband.. doesnt explain the sputtering though...
