Code 42 problem on 86 Trans Am

It says it could be one of three possible things. The EST, Something called a direct ignition system, or the fuel cutoff relay. I am assuming by the way it was acting that it is the relay for the fuel. Where is this locataed at? I have a 1986 Trans Am 305 TPI.

It has something to do with the spark timing circuit (EST). Check the distributor wire near where the EGR solenoid is. There is not supposed to be an engine hoist bracket there anymore, there was a TSB about it. It would end up damaging the dist. wires and causing this problem.

This is of course if its not because you disconnected the timing connector to set the timing, because that will set a 42.
