Fuel pump running after engine shutdown
Fuel pump running after engine shutdown
My fuel pump is running for approx. 5 seconds after I've shut down the engine. Is this normal or is it a sign that the fuel pump is bad and can't hold the fuel pressure? The car is a trans am -87, 305 tpi.
Appreciates all help.
Best regards, Fredrik

Since no one else answered this, i'll alleviate your fears. Yes, it is normal for the FP to run for a few seconds after start-up. Especially when my oil is cold my FP will run for a bit after i shut-down, the residual oil pressure keeps the oil pressure swicth closed, keeping power going to the pump.
