In the market for third gen

Sorry if this is in the wrong forum, but i was wondering if anyone could help me out. I have a 97 camaro v6, daily driver and I was thinking of getting a third gen on the side, and slowly working it up to a daily driver. My plan is the get the car with a manual and at least some sort of v8, I want to upgrade the motor with either a rebuild and h/c or go ahead and drop in a new crate motor, then take my time upgraded, tranny, rear end, etc. I was just wondering if anyone could recommend any years and options to look out for. Thanks!

Also one more thing, my mechanic skills aren't that great, but how hard would it be to get an auto car and swap it for a manual?

Welcome to the boards. Basically you're gunna be lookin at 305's or 350s for the engines. If you're getting a crate motor later anyways, you will want to get a new transmission too because almost all the trannys that came stock are "of teh suke" lol.

Basically if you are just looking to find a nice chassis to drop a block into, you should get an Z28/IROC that way you dont have to upgrade the suspension for a while. You can pretty much take your pick on any IROC/Z with a straight body with no dings... since you are gunna get a crate motor and rebuild the mechanics of it the car could be completely crapped out heh.

Anyways, I'd suggest you go to the Appearance section of the site and do some
