Fuel Pump or fuel system???

Heres a run down of the annoyances that are making themselves more noticeable.

In the mornings, usually, I turn the igniton to hte on position, wait 5-10 seconds for the fuel system to charge. (you hear a slight hum then a click) after that I start the car. It starts fine but idles a little rough. Wait 30-40 seconds then I pull out of the driveway and it goes fine but seems to shudder just a little bit when you start accelerating. After it warms up it seems to run fine, idles nice, runs smooth.

The odd occasion the rpms will drop from a nice 625 to 500 and the car will start to shudder when sitting at a stop light feeling like it might stall. As well, on cold start ups sometimes the car will turn on, go up to 1100-1200 rpm then start to sputter and then it stalls. I turn it back on after waiting a few seconds and it works fine after that.

This past weekend the car wouldnt start and it kept stalling itself out after it would catch. It would go up to about 500-600 rpm, shudder and die after it reached 300rpm(that seems pretty normal to quit at that speed). So after 4 tries of this, I give it some gas to keep it running and it goes fine until I hit a stop light and start to break, soon as I let off the gas the thing dropped to 300rpm and was fighting to keep running before it stalled. So i drop it into neutral, still rolling, i restart it and it starts, and stalls again. So now im downtown toronto in the thick of traffic trying to two foot the thing to the nearest gas station. It quit another 5 times till I stopped at one, turned off the car all the way, waited 30 seconds, turned it on and no problem whatsoever.

It never stalled like this ever, just only on startup the odd time.

Why I think it might be the fuel pump or fuel system related is because this morning on startup the fuel pump turned on, did its normal hum and then clicked repeatedly for about 5 seconds before it went silent again. I turned on the car and it almost stalled, but i gave it some gas to keep it going and it picked right up after that.

I am running injector cleaner every fill up without any noticeable difference. Could there be a clog in my fuel system somewhere or lines causing this? Or is the fuel pump on its way out? I dont like the idea of having to replace that because it seems like an expensive job to drop the tank, change the pump, etc.

Any help appreciated!
