springs in stock vortec heads.

Im chainging out to a carburated motor this month and Im going with vorte heads. My cam is going to be a .509/528 284/292. Is this too much lift for the stock springs?

Yep, too much for the springs and you'll have other valvetrain clearance problems as well.

Your best bet is to buy a set of Vortec heads premodded for .550ish lift from Scoggin Dickey, they run about $550 for the pair so they're not too much more...
