Hooking up the EGR Solenoid?

Anyone have any advice on what steps I should take to hook up this EGR solenoid.

Also does it matter which hose goes where? is this thing flow dependant or will it accept reverse flow?

Well I found the directions in the haynes manual however I am not sure if this solenoid is omnidirectional. Basically I took a pic of the solenoid...maybe someone out there can give me a quick shout out on which way it goes.

Basically, does gold go to the valve or to the Throttlebody?

The metal spout gets connected to the bottom of the throttle body and the plastic spout goes to the EGR valve.
