Warning 73-79 GMC/CHEVY PU owners!!!

I think this is important enough to through this out there.
Today I received a letter from Gm Corp.

Dear general moters costomer :
As the owner of a gm 73-79 PU or 75 van your safety with our product is of utmost concern to us.

We are contacting you to make you aware that GM has received reports of injuries and fatalities involving flexible fan blades. Over time cracks may devolope in the fan blade due to fatigue, engine modifacations, or vehicle collisions and may result in seperation of the fan blades. the initial onset of these fatigue cracks may not be redily noticeable with a visual inspection.
Chevrolet "1-800-222-1020"
GMC "1-800-462-8782"
It goes on to warn that the blade could come off and cause damage to the truck/van or could hurt or kill some one working on the truck.

The defective part number is "336032" and is located on the fan blade. It is one trucks and vans equipped with a 350 and no AC.

Unfortunatly GM wont cough up an new fan for free! They should!!!!
I just wanted to warn everone that has or knows someone that owns the mentioned vehicals cause you might not get this warning unless you have owned the vehical for awhile and if you do have this defective product call the numbers above!

SSC: <---- good deed for the day

I read this leter a few weeks before it was mailed out to customers. GM can't be held responsible for every part failure that ever may occur. Of course fan seperation could be dangerous, so could many other parts failures. Be thankful they warned you.

Geez, I quit dodging flex fans in the late 70's when I saw one go into my buddies forearm.

Never knew they came from the factory though.

I did a 6000 rpm first gear shift when I had a 79 4x4 and the blade went straight down through the fan shroud. I never noticed it for a couple of days when I was trying to figure out why the engine had an out of balance vibration. I noticed the missing fan blade by accident.
