AC dumped charge in less than 24hours!

Well I charged up the ac with r134 1st charging ever for the firechicken. Well the system was totaly dry. I put in a test charge air and a can of r134 oil and no leaks. Then I cleared the system put the air vac on it for 30 min Charged it up and it was icy cold.
Well it lasted less than 24 hours so i discharged the system and put oil air and a can of dye and i cant see any leaks all the hoses are intact conections are good i can wigglwe then with no hiss sound. The only way i can see that the r134 is leaking out is the compresser. Is this possible? when it enguages can charge leak out through the pully? Im kinda stumped on this one any input will be apreciated.

I'd say its leaking out the front seal of the compressor. Typical. Replacing the seal (which requires an assortment of tools most people dont have) sometimes works.

Thanks Madmax. I'll give that a try i was thinking that there was a seal behind there but wasnt to sure though. Could that seal possibly pump excess air into the system if it was bad?

Nah. Its a weird sorta seal, not what you think it should look like. They go bad if they have been sitting too long without being used, basically that means anyone who doesnt use their AC on a somewhat regular basis has a chance of that seal leaking. Its usually about a 50/50 shot in my experience that replacing it works, and the other 50 the compressor dies soon thereafter. Keep your fingers crossed.

SS,

Since you'll have to evacuate again anyway, you might as well bite the bullet and exchange your suspect compressor for a reman designed for polyol ester lubricants so it doesn't happen all over again.
