Going, going....nowhere ! What the %&#$*

This post is for mechanically inclined individuals.
Today I took my rusty headers off to replace the gaskets that go to the block and from the collector to the exhaust pipe. But only on the drivers side. Because of space problems I disconected the battery then I have to remove the power steering pump out of the way, and take out 3 of the 4 spark plugs. Anyway, when I was done and feeling proud I assembled everything in reverse, no big deal anyone could do it. Wrong. I apperantly messed something up! Now when I try to start the car and all it does is crank the hell out of the starter.
It did fire once but never got going. After I stopped the garage smelt like gas. Checked the plugs I removed, re-gapped them and tried again. Same thing but no go. Anyone that knows their cars throw me a freakin' bone here.

Nothing on the drivers side that could do that to your car. Did you get the plug wires on correctly? Were the plugs fould you said you regaped em but how wet were they if you smelt gas? pull one of the plugs hook the wire back up and crank it to see if your getting fire. The only 3 thing i can think of are mixed plug wires gas fouled plugs or a disconected ignition wire. GL!

Thanks for a quick response, but when the plugs were removed they were dry !

Secondly I have my plug wires in looms so getting them mixed is impossible.

Third I wish it would of been this easy, but I never unhooked the ignition wire, and yesterday everything was fine. We went for a drive, listened to some music, then stopped for a tank full of 92 octane. Now I bet you want to say it. Go ahead. What the *&$%#@!

Have you checked the battery connection to the starter? Maybe when disconnecting the battery, you pulled it loose somehow.

Possibly something else got screwed up when you were working on your car, it just seems to happen that way--fix one thing and something else breaks. I would check your starter connections... maybe some part of your ignition died. I hate when this crap happens.

Would you like to know what was wrong? Well
My brother wanted to help so I told him while I do my thing, he can polish my air cleaner lid. While taking it off he "Accidentally" hit the flaps of the carb shut.

So to all who helped thanks. All is well and everything is fixed.
