Smog legal...missing EGR

Hey everyone, just registered w/ this site and need help w/ my car. Its an '82 Pontiac T/A V8 305 ci (5.0ltr) 4 BBL and it always seems to stall on me.

My question(s) are:

Do ALL '82 Pontiac T/A have an EGR Valve? Apparently mine doesn't have one because the Intake Manifold is an aftermarket product but it doesn't have a port anywhere for the EGR. Yet it was able to pass the Nevada state smog test.

The other one is that the aforementioned Intake Manifold is a Weiand (no EGR) and a Holley 4010 Carburator. Is this setup 50 state smog legal?

I've got more questions than you can shake a stick at but these are the most pressing right now. If anyone can help me out, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks,

Welcome aboard.

If you passed, they must not have done a thorough visual inspection. The "simple" sniffer tests don't check for NOx emissions, which is the only thing the EGR really affects, so that may be why you passed there.

No, you are not 50 state legal. You wouldn't get past Square 1 here. They'd flunk you for the visual, and most likely the dyno sniffer would get you if they let you on the rollers.

Unless the car was orginally delivered to Canada and you've legally imported it back here, you must have the computer controlled carburetor and ignition system, along with A.I.R. and catalytic converter. Amoung other things.
