Your gonna have to get a shorter serpentine belt. What size I dont know, it'll be trial and error situation getting the right size.

the problem is the belt loops over the AC and alternator so the tensioner can push on it... so if i remove the AC the belt would not go on right nomatter what length it is

You can get an A/C delete pulley, and from what I've been told, you can also get a smog pump delete pulley (someone said it was the same part number) from your local Chevy performance parts dealer.

Well the problem you will have is the tensioner. You will need to get a delete pully for the AC but the smog pump can be thrown away. You can still use your same belt without the smog pump. Run the belt as the following,,,,,
Run it under the crank, from the crank take a stright shot at the A\C go over the A\C then under the tensioner, over the Alt. then under the power steering and around the water pump.
This is how I run mine and it works fine using the same belt. There is a digaram of it somewhere on this sight that I saw when I first came to it but I can't remember where its at??? You will also notice a major power increase. Good luck

I ditched the smog pump and got an idler pulley off of a 2.8 camaro and an alternator braket off an 80 monte carlo, with a little cobbling together and some hacking on it with a grinder...

It doesn't look as good as the 1LE delete gizmo, but i'm $90 richer. I used twine to wrap around the pulleys while my buddy held the tensioner all the way. I snugged the twine and removed it, took it to autozone and got a 6-rib belt that the twine fit inside of. Nailed it first time.
