Well, I qualify for the "old" part, but don't have an answer for this one: On spark plugs that use a metal gasket, does the "small" side go towards the head or the plug? I've never seen any info on this, even in shop manuals. Maybe it doesn't make any difference.

Just wondering.

You young bucks probably didn't even know spark plugs ever came with gaskets.

Small side towards the head is how they come in the box.

The last two sets I got had the gaskets loose in the box (wire terminal was loose in the last set).

Small side to head is the way I installed them this last time. I don't recall having leakage from them anytime, just had me wondering as I installed them.

small side to the head is how i've always done it too. that's how they come when on the plugs.

Let's make it unanimous - smaller diameter side toward the head, and don't forget the Never-Seez! (You KNEW I'd throw that one in there.)

And they WILL seal more than once, contrary to what some people might believe.
