4" crank in a 400 small block
Can a stock, production 400 block be machined to accept a 3.875" or 4.000" stroke crankshaft? Also, what is this process called?

yes. th process is called "get out your grinder". it is a major pita to grind the block for the crank to fit and that is just the beginning. do a search for 4" and you should find a few threads. we discussed this not too long ago.
