Heres a tough one about passing emissions...
All right guys this is killing me. I still can’t get my car to pass emissions. I am on the brink of paying someone to pass the car for me. But I want to get some more advice and give it one more try before paying $100 to get it to pass. This is what has happened so far.
I stupidly removed my AIR equipment and replaced my stock cat with an Aftermarket High Flow Cat from Magnaflow. I took it to inspection and failed for CO%
SEE ATTEMPT #1
I then retarded the timing back to stock & dropped the fuel pressure. This fixed the CO% problem, but then my NOx skyrocketed. I figured that I leaned it out too much.
SEE ATTEMPT #2
I then raised the fuel pressure up a little to try to get it and pass again. But I didn’t seem to bring it up enough.
SEE ATTEMPT #3
I then raised the fuel pressure up some more and I got the exact oppsite of what I wanted. The NOx actually went back up a little.

you were best off on your first attempt, put it back to the way it was then.
you can try running the highest octane pump gas in your area for the test, this help you out some, also alcohol (not to be confused with the beverages
) is supposed to mask the emissions for sniffer test, may want to try that out as well.
You werent off by too much, maybe just some fine tuning could be needed, but nothing drastic! Your aftermarket hi-flow cat should work better than your old stocker w/ or w/o the AIR equipment so dont be kicking yourself about that heheh.
The shops around here charge 160+ to get your car to pass emission (assuming you dont need a new part of course).
BTW, have you done a basic tune-up to your car? Plugs, plug wires, coolant, oil, rotor, distributor cap?

what was your timing at before btw? It looks like you could play around with the timing and hit a happy medium and just barely pass emissions if you were using something like 12* advanced, and then retarded it back to 6*, you could put it at 9 or 10* and be fine then.
