the worst day yesterday!!!!!!!! Need some help!
yesterday i went to the store in the mornig and the car ran fine and everything. then i had to replace a parking lite in the rear and hooked up my amp and subwoofers. then when i started the car it took a second to start then i come home and i noticed i have no tail lights well after an hour i found the problem a wire was grounding out. now though my car won't hold a charge for the battery this is all after i hooked up the amp and subwoofers. do u think this could be the problem of the draining of the battery. i jumpstarted the car and drove it for like 30 min-45min then went home let it sit for like 10 min tried to start it it wouldn't start. It was working fine in the morning though just after i put the stereo equipment in. anyone everyhave this happen before. do u think a wire could be shorting the battery and draing it thanks for any help u can give.
P.S. The battery and alterantor are about 2yrs old.

Mike,
I would guess that something about your installation is creating "issues". Check the power wiring to the amp. I presume you installed a fuse or circuit breaker to the amp...

You stated that you hooked up the amplifiers. Are you using the "remote on" terminal on the amplifier to turn the amplifiers on and off with your head unit and/or ignition?
It's not unusual for an amplifier to draw 1-2 amperes at idle when this terminal is energized and no audio is inputted (amplifier "on" but not amplifing audio).

yes i am using the remote on. i got the car to run then shut it down for like an hour and it started back up with the amp and deck not connected. but i was looking in the back saw the negative wire was stickin out so i tapped it back up. Is it possible that if the negtaive was touch a part of the car it could have been causing a drain? it kinda works now but i need to go to work tommorrow and i know i can get there if i jump it i just need it to start when i leave work like 8 hours later.
thanks for the help!!

The negative can be shorted to ground all day long and not cause problems. You have to look for shorts in the positive wires. Its possible for some reason the amp is always on and its causing a drain, maybe the turn on lead isnt turning off when you shut the key off due to install errors or something along those lines.
