Is it possible?!?
Is it possible?!?
I have had a problem with my oil pressure gauge being tached all the way since I bought my 91Z a couple amonths ago. FIgured it was the sending unit because the car ran great. Well I've also had an issue with my volts not staying abpve 13 while driving. I just changed the Pressure sending unit for the oil and now I have an oil pressure reading and my volts are staying above 13 now. Is it possible that the sending unit was shorting out bad enough that it as draining my power?

SS,
Teh dead sensor should not have caused teh undervoltage problem. The sensor inputs are high impedance sinking inputs, so even a direct short to ground doesn't cause a high current/potential undervoltage. There is a 12VDC reference signal to the sensor and it is routed through a resistance (the pressure gauge heating element). ECM sensors work in much the same manner, but generally with a 5VDC reference source.

Wel I also changed the side post battery cable connecter with one that I can stereo hook my amps power supply to, I had bought a brand new set connectors before I put this one on and it didn't help at all, still lost voltage. But I did not notice a differnce untill I had changed the sending unit. I don't know whats going on anymore, oh well.
