Timing at idle is 35* and 50* max

My set up is a 383 stealth ram, 220cc heads, 10.15:1 compression, 234/242 @ .050 .539/.558 lift 112lsa. I made 294hp/333tq on the dynojet and I'm thinking there was a bit of a problem since I thought the combo should make a lot more. When I was there, I told the dyno guy that I was running 51* timing, his jaw about hit the floor, and he wanted to pull it back to 36* on the second pull and hp fell of like 30hp. Anyway, gas started getting expensinve so I pulled the timing down to 41* max and started running 89 octane. And for you guys that wanna chime in and suggest that the balancer is slipped, don't even bother, cause when I set up the motor and the stand, I brought number 1 to TDC and lined 0* with the pointer perfectly. And now that I've been looking for the possible problem, I've since pulled the balancer and verified that 0* lines up with the pointer when number 1 is at TDC just like I set it up. Now as far as timing lights, I've verified this high timing with three different lights. I should mention that I have a Holley ECU and tune everything on the laptop. So today, I decide that I'm gonna bump my timing at idle to 35* and see if it'll ping (still on 89 octane). To my suprise, my MAP vaccum actually stabilized quiet a bit. When I was idling at 21*, the map would jump around about 4 different cells, but when I bumped it to 36*, the MAP actually stabilized on one cell and idled about 150 rpm higher. I have a strange feeling that somewhere along the line my timing isn't reading properly and I just can't figure out where and how. And by the way, my timing pointer is the one that goes with my balancer, so they should be matched up fine.

Any thought would be great
