What is the best way to measure hood clearance for a cowl induction hood?

Now that the motor is in and everything is bolted up, I need to buy a new hood to protect the engine compartment. How do I go about measuring for that? Do I go from the top of the fender and measure straight across to the manifold, and then measure up to the top of the air cleaner? Or do you measure from the fender where the upper fender bolts are that hold the fender to the body? I know that I need to use a cowl induction hood, but want to run the smallest one that I need. Thanks, Paul Moore

I would just put a straight edge ontop of the fenders, right in front of the air cleaner, and measure up from the bottom of the straight edge.
