No Spark, May Be Distributor.

No too far back, my car one mourning wouldn't start. Come to find out there was absolutely no spark, well after taking the distributor cap and rotor out everything looked okay. advance auto parts tested the ignition module a few times it worked great. put the distributor back to get. the car started and ran like it was literally brand new. this mourning the same problem occured. what could be the problem?

Coil, or pick-up coil, or poor power wire connection.

Or low battery, the HEI needs atleast a full 12 volts to it. Try cleaning all the connections that go to the coil and cap. How many miles are on the cap and rotor? They also could be dirty or tracking due to buildup.

The same thing happened today. Could it be the pick up coil?

So after taking the cap off and then putting it back on it works? Is the cap cracked at all? When you removed it is there any signs of moisture in/on the cap? Just to be on the safe side I'd replace the cap and rotor. Now the other thing that I'm thinking is that it's not the cap/rotor and it's the ignition module. After putting the cap back on it runs. Is the connectors from the module to the coil in good shape? That could also be your problem there. Just some food for thought.

The rotor was replaced recently and it already has charred marks on it. What's causing this? Could it have something to do with the problem?
