Quick Power Door Lock Question...
Quick Power Door Lock Question...
Hi everyone,
A quick question regarding my power door locks- The switch on the passenger side appears to work fine, cause it unlocks/locks the driver's side door lock, but fails to lock/unlock the passenger side one. Also, the switch from the drivers side AND my car alarm lock/unlock feature fail to lock/unlock the passenger side, but can lock/unlock the driver's side. Does this mean the power door lock actuator on the passenger side is dead, or is it something else? I'm going to be taking the door apart tomorrow to replace the clips for the lock cylinder and want to fix this at the same time if it isn't too hard
I also read something about this lock actuator being secured with rivets...will this be impossible for the average guy to take out? Thanks for the advice,
Steve

I've never dealt with them myself, but I think there is a relay for those locks, too. I've had my doors apart before, so if the actuator is riveted as you say (I've never looked) then it would still not be hard to get off - usually a drill, chisel, and/or dremel tool will knock it out for you... I'm sure someone else will have more knowledge on this than me and can help you out more...
